Islaja: Palaa Aurinkoon (cd Fonal Records)
Spires that in the sunset rise: This is Fire (cd Secret Eye)
Nick Cave: No more shall we part (cd Mute)
Jan Garbarek/The Hilliard Ensemble: Mnemosyne (2cd ECM) + Officium (cd ECM)
J.G. has been crying out and transcending his soul towards the sky for decades. Here he's teaming up with state of the art of a medieval/renaissance choir. Its a perfect match! The Hilliard Ensemble is indeed great!! Thanks to label honcho M. Eicher for making it happen.
Arvo Pärt/ The Hilliard Ensemble: Passio (cd ECM)
A. Pärts golden work performed by a golden choir.
Lau Nau: Kuutarha (cd Locust)
Beautiful warm and timbral nuanced lofi new folk.
Peter Wright: Desolation beauty violence (cd Ikuisuus) + Yellow Horizon (cd Psudoarcana) + Pariahs Sing Om (3cd Last Visible Dog)
This New-Zealand born guitarist P.W. creates beautiful huge organic sounds-spaces with minimal effects; primarily a 12 stringed dan-electro. Its indeed beautiful and these three releases are the best and most organic I've heard from him.
Family Underground: 2/2/06 (live Århus 2006, lp b-side Qbico 63)
Stephan Micus: Athos + To the evening child + The garden of mirrors + Life (cd's ECM)
If you're looking for 'new age music'? with strong organic power this music by multi-instrumental genius Stephan Micus is indeed worth lending your ears and mind +. He has quite alot of albums out there. I find these four albums his best. A Lot of so called 'new age music' uses very superficial sounds and approaches but none of this you'll hear from this focused soul!
Laconic Chamber: A history of epidemics (cd Camera Obscura Records)
Very interesting chamber-like pieces in odd colours and measures. Add a folky and rocky polymorhic frame/growth. Dorothy Geller has even more modernistic and abstract songscaped music out there recently, but this oldie captured my mind.
Deuter: Nada Himalaya (cd New Earth)
Organic meditative and deep healing warm timbre.
Thomas Koppel: Improvisationer. For klaver. (CD Art People)
Current 93: Of ruine or some blazing starre (CD Durtro Jnana)
Fire on Fire: The Orchard (CD Young God Records)
Beautiful mixture of american folk with an eastern-european and sometimes middleeastern/asian/african warm timbre and feeling.
Nawang Khechog: Tibetan meditation music (CD Sounds True)
